NoLimit Coaster allows the player to create a unique rollercoaster ride and then experience the thrill of riding on it. And let me tell you to feel the g-force on track you just made is a great feeling, you almost wish you had a spare quarter of a million to build it in your backyard and charge admission. No Limits Coaster is not your typical video game per se, there is no plot line or sub-story going on, nor are there any goals or scores or anyone to compete against. What it is, is a highly advanced, beautifully rendered simulator allowing you to create and then ride on your own rollercoaster tracks. NoLimits Coaster is essentially two different programs, the track editor and the coaster simulator

The program comes with a variety of pre-made tracks but half the fun of this sim is creating your own track. To create your own track you first load up the editor software. You are presented a big blank screen with a grid pattern overlaid. Now you select which piece of rail you want to create and presto it is there, you can choose from either wooden or steel for your rollercoaster. Now that you have the basic design of your coaster, you need to build its support frames. There are a variety of support frames to choose from, and they do make a big difference. Some turns or twists in the track will require A-frame supports while others with require the overhanging support. You must also keep the supports from interfering with the rail line and remember to install lifts to lift the rollercoaster to the top of the first drop; otherwise your rollercoaster will just sit there.

Another feature in the editor is the ability to terraform a background for your coaster. You can create a variety a parks, lakes, mountains, and valleys, all of which will give you coaster the ultimate setting. There are just so many options you could spend hours in the editor alone before you’ve done everything.

After you have created your coaster click on the 3D icon and you can zoom and out of your creation. You can look at it from any angle you want and examine it to the finest detail. Now that you have created your track it is time to take it to the simulator.

The simulator part of NoLimit Coaster is where you get to see your creation or one of over 60 pre-made coasters in action. The game has been optimized for 3D support, and it runs just perfectly on our test machine (P4 2.8ghz, 512mb ram, 128mb GForce.) The graphics were clean and crisp and everything flowed quite smoothly. In the options you can choose a variety of weather conditions to really see the beauty of the rendering engine; the fog is an especially nice effect. The game also features true life physics, everything behaves as it should, and you can accurately gage the g-force exerted on the riders of your coaster.

When you take your first ride on your coaster you will almost feel like you are there. You can imagine yourself if the front seat violently shaking as your take a turn at 3 g’s. Though this is not your typical game for rollercoaster enthusiasts and people looking for something just a little bit different this game is definitely worth a second look.
